Configure SNMP defaults

MSP N-central enables you to globally define and propagate the default device properties for SNMP. Configuring the default SNMP properties provides consistency and reduces the need to manually edit these properties on an individual basis.

Configuring default properties will be applied to new devices that are added to MSP N-central. Use the Propagate function to distribute the default properties to existing devices.

Default SNMP profiles

Default SNMP properties are stored in SNMP profiles for quick and easy management of multiple sets of properties.

SNMP Profiles are hierarchical in nature. This means that configuring an SNMP Profile at a higher level makes that profile available for lower levels. For example, a profile created at the Service Organization level will be available to Customers or Sites within that Service Organization. Lower levels can enable or disable the use of SNMP Profiles but they cannot edit or delete them.

  1. Click AdministrationDefaults > Backup and SNMP Defaults.
  2. Select the SNMP Defaults tab.
  3. Click Add SNMP Credential and select an SNMP version from the drop-down list box.
  4. Configure the required properties and click OK.
  5. Click Save.

The default profile is added to the list. By default, the profile is enabled for use with devices using SNMP. If you selected Propagate, the changes are applied to the devices currently managed by MSP N-central.

To disable an SNMP profile, click the toggle icon in the Enabled column and click Save.
