Requirements for managing mobile devices

  • Android 2.2.x and later

SSL Certificate

The MSP N-central server must have a valid SSL certificate issued by a valid CA (Certification Authority).

Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) Certificate

For MSP N-central's Mobile Device Management capability to work effectively with iOS devices, you will need to generate an Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) certificate that is unique to your MSP N-central installation. SolarWinds MSP does not provide this certificate but provides a wizard to help you obtain one from Apple Inc.

APNS certificates are not required to manage Android devices.

CDYNE Activation Key

To send SMS (Short Message Service) text messages to mobile devices, a CDYNE Activation Key must be added.

SMS registration is optional and is not required to manage mobile devices with MSP N-central.

  1. Register for the CDYNE SMS Notify! Web Service.
  2. Copy the Activation Key.
  3. Click ConfigurationMobile Devices > SMS Registration.
  4. Enter the copied CDYNE Activation Key to the CDYNE Activation Key field.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Confirm the validity of the Activation Key by clicking Test and enter the Phone Number the mobile device.
  7. Click Test.
