Importing Ignored Devices

This procedure can only be done at the Customer or Site-level.

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > All Devices.
  2. Click Add.
  3. If discovered assets are available, Click here under the Import Devices heading.
  4. Select the check box next to a device and click Import.
  5. Map the imported device to an existing device if required or click Continue to proceed.

    You can avoid duplication by mapping the imported device to one that has already been entered manually into the system if the imported device has the same name or IP address. To map an imported device:

    1. Select the appropriate device that is already in the system from the Select an existing device field.
    2. Select the discovered device from the Map the following discovered device field.
    3. Click Map to establish the mapping relationship between the discovered device and the existing device.
    4. After you have completed mapping all of the appropriate devices, click Continue.
  6. If required, you can modify the properties for the devices you are importing by selecting the check box next to the device names and performing the following:
    1. Click Edit Devices.

      The Edit Device screen (for single devices) or the Edit Devices screen (for multiple devices) appears.

    2. For individual devices, you can specify a new Name by which to identify the device. This is not available when editing multiple devices.
    3. Select a new Class in which to categorize the device.
    4. For individual devices, you can specify the IP address of the device in the Network Address field. This is not available when editing multiple devices.
    5. Select the Operating System of the device.
    6. Specify a Description of the device.
    7. Click OK to save your changes.
  7. If adding services is required, perform To add services to an individual device:Click on the names of the services listed in the Show All Services column of the Import Devices table.Click Add. or To add services to multiple devices:Select the check box next to the device names you wish to modify.You can select the check box next to the Name field to select all of the devices.Click Add Services.. To finish, skip to Click Finish. You must now set up the details of the services that were added to the imported devices. Otherwise, accurate scanning is not possible..
  8. To add services to an individual device:
    1. Click on the names of the services listed in the Show All Services column of the Import Devices table.
    2. Click Add.
  9. To add services to multiple devices:
    1. Select the check box next to the device names you wish to modify.

      You can select the check box next to the Name field to select all of the devices.

    2. Click Add Services.
  10. Select the Monitoring Probe.

    If you are adding services to more than one device, only the services available to all the devices are listed.

  11. Specify the number of Instances for each service that you want to add.
  12. Click OK.

    If the selected services are available to all of the selected devices, the Import Devices screen appears. If any of the selected services could not be added to all of the devices, a System Error screen appears indicating which services could not be added.

    A service cannot be added to a device if the device has exceeded its job limit.

  13. Click Finish.

    You must now set up the details of the services that were added to the imported devices. Otherwise, accurate scanning is not possible.
