Active Issues View

This view lets you view:

  • All monitored services that are not in a Normal state.
  • Active notifications for your account (and permission level).
  • Tickets associated with a device (and lets you create new tickets).

The refresh bar lets you customize the screen refresh rate. Inactive user sessions time out after 20 minutes.

The association of services to a service grouping is displayed on the Active Issues view in the Service Group column. If no text is displayed in the Service Group column, the service has no association to a service grouping. If a service is associated with a service grouping, the name of the service grouping will be displayed in the Service Group column.

Additional functions that you can perform in the Active Issues view include:

Add a service to the Active Issues view

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > All Devices.
  2. In the Name column of the All Devices view, click a device that is associated with the service you would like to display.
  3. Click the Status tab in the Edit Device screen.
  4. In the Service column, click the service that you would like to add to the Active Issues view.
  5. Click the Service Details tab.
  6. Select Show in the Active Issues View.
  7. Click OK.

Add a device note to devices through the Active Issues view

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > Active Issues.
  2. Select the check box next to each of the devices to which you would like to add a note.
  3. Click Add Note.
  4. In the Edit Device screen, select the Notes tab.
  5. In the Note Entry field, type the information that you would like to add to the device description.
  6. Click Add Note.

Adjust the thresholds of services displayed in the Active Issues view

Adjusting the thresholds of multiple services at the same time can only be performed for the same service. For example, you can modify the thresholds of the Patch Status service on multiple devices but you cannot modify the thresholds of the Disk and Patch Status services at the same time.

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > Active Issues.
  2. Select the check box next to each of the devices for which you want to adjust the thresholds of a service.
  3. Click Adjust Thresholds.
  4. In the Adjust Thresholds dialog box, modify the appropriate thresholds to meet your requirements.

If you set the Monitoring field for a threshold to Off, the threshold will no longer be used to determine the status of the service. If the Monitoring field for all of the thresholds is set to Off, the service status will always be displayed as Normal regardless of its true state (for example, Failed or Warning).

  5. Click Save.

Delete services in the Active Issues view

Deleting services in the Active Issues view will completely remove the selected services from the associated devices. Individual services can not be deleted if they belong to a service grouping.

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > Active Issues.
  2. Select the check box next to each of the devices for which you would like to delete services.
  3. Click Delete Services.
  4. Click OK in the Delete Selected Services dialog box.

Delete service groupings in the Active Issues view

Deleting service groupings in the Active Issues view will completely remove all of the associated services that are part of the service grouping from the devices. Individual services can not be deleted if they belong to a service grouping.

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > Active Issues.
  2. Select the check box next to each of the devices for which you would like to delete service groupings.

Select the row in the Active Issues view in which the name of the service grouping is displayed in both the Service Group column and the Service column. If the name in the Service column is different from the name in the Service Group column, you are attempting to select an individual service within the service grouping instead of the service grouping itself. Individual services can not be deleted from associated devices if they belong to a service grouping.

  3. Click Delete Services.
  4. Click OK in the Delete Selected Services dialog box.

Modify the monitoring of services in the Active Issues view

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > Active Issues.
  2. Select the check box next to each of the devices for which you would like to modify the service monitoring.
  3. Click Service Monitoring.
  4. Select the type of monitoring action to be taken from one of the following:
    1. Enable - Activates a disabled service on a device. By default, services that are added to a device are enabled.
    2. Disable - Disables a service on a device to prevent it from being monitored.
    3. Scan Now - The configured Agent or Probe will scan the designated services and return data to the MSP N-central server.

Disable services to temporarily stop the process. Disable a service instead of deleting it to retain the settings.

View all tickets on a device

  1. In the navigation pane, click Views > Active Issues.
  2. Click Ticket ID in the Ticketing column of the device for which you want to review a ticket.

MSP N-central will display a ticket number and a status for the ticket.

If there are no tickets currently open for the device, a Create button will be displayed in the Ticketing column.

  3. Click the number of the ticket you want to review. N-central displays a status for the ticket in the UI.

MSP N-central will log in to the PSA software to display the specific ticket being reviewed.
