REBOOT OPTIONS

User options

Configure the warning dialog box that will be displayed if re-starting the computer is required.

The user may choose to save their files or postpone the re-start. Select the level of control that the user can exert over the re-starting of their device.

If you select the Reboot Method to Allow user to postpone beyond the maintenance window, the user will still be prompted every four hours for a reboot, which they can continually postpone.

The Allow user to postpone reboot option is only available for Version 10.0 Agents or later. Agents of an earlier version will force the device to re-start after the time period configured below.

Countdown for

Select the time (in minutes) between when the warning dialog box is displayed and when the device will be re-started.

Message from

Select the originator of the warning dialog box as one of the following:

  • Default: Default value provided by MSP N-central, or,
  • Custom Name: Type the name you want to be displayed as the originator of the message.

Reboot message

Select the message to be displayed in the warning dialog box from one of the following:

  • Default: Default text provided by MSP N-central

Select this option to transition the associated devices to a Downtime state while they are being re-started.

Bring device out of downtime

Select the maximum number of minutes that the device can remain in Downtime before re-starting if the Agent has not checked in.

This option allows MSP N-central to alert you if re-starting the device has failed or has otherwise taken longer than expected.

If re-starting fails, the device will remain in Downtime for the maximum time that you specify. After the maximum time elapses, the device will come out of Downtime and if the Agent has not checked in, notifications will be triggered

Save current system state

Select this option to have the current state of the device (for example, open applications) saved so that when the device is re-started, the saved state will be restored.

For example, if Microsoft Outlook is open, it will be re-opened when the device is re-started.

This feature is not supported by all operating systems and applications.
