  1. Download and install the vSphere CLI (http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vcli/).
  2. Download the HP Offline Bundle that is appropriate for your HP server (for example, a DL360 G5), and for the version of VMware that is installed (for example, ESX 4.0).
    1. Browse to http://hp.com.
    2. Click Support and Drivers.
    3. Click the Drivers and Software icon.
    4. Type the product name of your server (for example DL360 G5).
    5. Under OS, select the appropriate version of ESX.
    6. Scroll to the Operating System - Enhancements section.
    7. Download the HP ESXi Offline Bundle.
  3. Put the ESXi host into Maintenance Mode.
  4. Install the HP Offline Bundle as directed by HP's instructions (for example, this set of instructions).

The output display should appear as follows:

    1. At the C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\bin> prompt, type vihostupdate.pl --server --install --bundle C:\users\creid\Downloads\hp-esxi4.0u2X-bundle-1.4.zip

  6. Exit the Maintenance Mode.
  7. Start up any Guests that need to be running.
