Application compliance

Application compliance enables you to define and control the type of software applications a device can have installed. This enables organizations to control the type of software their users can run and minimize the potential of having unwanted pirated software or malware on their network. MSP N-central maintains a list of applications on your customer's devices which you can define as being allowed or not on a device. The Application Compliance service runs on the device to ensure that the software on the device meets the standards of the organization.

In MSP N-central, you set up the rules that tell MSP N-central how to categorize an application when its discovered on a device. As MSP N-central runs discovery jobs and discovers new devices, it also updates the application list when new software applications are discovered. Application compliance settings enable you to change the acceptance of an application, and categorize new applications as MSP N-central discovers them.

The Application Compliance Service administers software policies using the list of applications that have been approved. When the Application Compliance Service detects an application name that is not on the list of approved applications, the service indicates the presence of an unapproved application.

To view the application compliance list, click Configuration > Monitoring > Application Compliance Settings.
