What are permissions

Permissions are the actions assigned to a role that a user can perform in MSP N-central. Every function in MSP N-central is governed by permissions. A role is a collection of permissions.

For example, an Administrator is a role that configures the system by having permissions to use and manage systems, or a technician is a role that has permissions to view status and reports to troubleshoots devices.

MSP N-central has three types of permissions that you can add or removed from a role.

Permission Description
Read Only Enables users to view selected components of MSP N-central.
Manage Enables users to view and make changes to the configuration of MSP N-central.
None Hides the component from the user so they cannot see or use the functionality.

For more information on adding roles, see Create a role.

Administration Tools permission

  • disk diagnostics,
  • SMTP authentication,
  • test email delivery, and
  • network setup.

Support Tools permission

In the Administration section of the permissions page, you can set the Support Tools permission to Manage. When enabled, it permits system level users to see the support level and are able to perform log retrieval on devices.
